Pool Time

At the beginning of the week, we were so lucky to be invited to a friend's pool. We packed a picnic lunch, hit the summer program at the library, and by 11:30 were splishing and splashing in the pool. It was a super fun way to spend a Tuesday afternoon.
These are some of our "first friends" these are a group of the kids Ella and Carter went to daycare with back in Grandville. It was a long time ago when Ella was 3 and Carter a baby. Oh how they've grown! Look at these good looking, big kids NOW! Carson and Carter-- the guys!

Meeting Elyse

It took us way to long, but this weekend, we finally made the trip to Indianapolis to meet our sweet new niece, ELYSE DIANA. She is quite possibly the sweetest, happiest, 13 week old baby I've had my hands on. Shortly after we arrived, she woke up from her nap and Sarah took Elle, Carter and I up to her room. We all peeked over the crib to find this cooing, smiling, joyfilled baby girl. Ahhh, she melted my heart and brought tears to my eyes (I am going through baby withdraw right now). She was so happy to let each of our family members hold, snuggle, and smooch her. It was a great weekend. I have lots of pictures to post. But first, here we are with Elyse:
Ella was tickled..... Of course, I was too!

It seems decades ago that Carter was this size!
Uncle Scott managed to get his hands on her for a bit of time!

we miss you already Elyse! But it won't be long until we see you for Logan's first birthday!

Saturday visitor

To our delightful surprise we had a quiet and charming visitor mosey up our driveway a few Saturday's ago. Our family is excited with every new animal they get to observe. We are accustom to seeing Painted Turtles by the log-full at the lake, however a Boxer Turtle is a rarity. This hungry guy was eating the delicious worms that were strewn on the driveway after an overnight rainfall. He didn't end of up sticking around long since "we" weren't very quiet.
Delighted to visit with the "tute wordle"

Of course, the kids wanted to keep it as a pet.....we have plenty to keep up with between the goldfish and Gus.....oh and yesterday we had some polliwogs join our family too!

Channeling the energy

As you all know, Carter moves through life at the speed of light. He has more energy and enthusiasm than I know what to do with some days. So it only seems logical, to find positive ways to channel his energy in positive ways. He loves sports! Thankfully, we have a variety of programs that he can take advantage of. He and Ella are finishing up their last week of soccer and the summer session began last night. Can you guess which sport he is loving?
T-Ball

Scott has so many wonderful childhood memories of playing t-ball and baseball with his dad and brothers. He was equally thrilled that Carter was thrilled with the idea of joining a "team". We meet every Monday night from 5:30-6:30, and friends from small group are on the team too!

We love all the batting

Scooping

oh, and their is a little brother who is studying all Carter's moves and is waiting to be old enough to "play too!"
He has the right idea- just a little backwards---helmet and bat!

running the bases barefoot to mom's dismay.....the kid won't keep shoes on these days. And since he wants to do everything, "by....my....self...." it doesn't take him long to un-do anything I do! Look for more pictures to come of our little athletes. I am behind in blogg-ville! The end of the school year is a bit hairy but now that we are easing into summer I hope to catch up!

The addition...

We are a family of builders and creators. Last summer, it was evident that we needed a bigger sandbox for the kids to play in. Carter used to wake up, eat breakfast, then head out to the sand box for endless hours of sifting, building, and moving sand. Ella likes to build, create, and "bake". By the end of the summer when Christian was out and about, there was barely any room for the three of them and a few toys. So Scott decided to build an addition and boy is it nice. The kids can each have their own space and there is plenty of room for the trucks and toys. Here are a few pictures: The end result
There was a lot of shoveling, hauling, and dumping involved.
It is a good thing the kids were so eager to help out!

Look at them load up the wagon! We were glad they could invest some time and lots of energy in their new sandbox. Anyone want to come over to play? The box is open anytime of day and we have lots of toys and SPACE! Come on over!
