Easter Fun

To those of you who know our family well, you may be searching for pictures of the important family events....like the birthdays of both CARTER and CHRISTIAN. These milestones did not go unnoticed, I have scores of pictures~ I promise to post them.....before their next birthdays. :) I have a few moments to share some of today's joys. We woke up early (it seems the reserve the sleeping in days for Monday- Friday, ironic??? Yes!) We got dressed for church and even scurried to get a family picture before we hustled out the door. We had an amazing service at church the kids and adults seemed to skip to the car singing praise songs and enjoying the sunshine! When we arrived home, much to our surprise, the yard and landscaping was covered in brightly colored Easter eggs (and slushy mud but I think I have all the clothes scrubbed now and there are no lasting stains=whew!) Ella had left a note for the Easter Bunny on the garage door. Luckily, he read it and left their baskets hidden in the garage! Shortly after we discovered all the eggs and baskets, Grandpa and Grandma Blackmer arrived to catch some of the festivities. We enjoyed a nice lunch and afternoon playing outside. The kids played ball, rode bikes, and blew bubbles. Scott took the kids up the the school to play at the playground while I went for a run. It was a perfect way to spend the day. Here are some fun pictures!

"I can't bee-weave all these eggs, can you mom?" squeals Christian

Just a few eggs, I'd say!

Taste testing is a key step in unloading the eggs

A very tickled 5 year old!

Ella and Grandpa--- strawberry Peeps, who knew?

So much fun to see what's inside!

Picking up was even fun!

Grandpa and Grandma brought some fancy cupcakes to have for dessert!

The Day to Day with chicks

When you are adopted into the Moorlag Family, we take good care of you!

We read to you.....

We encourage you to exercise..... We build forts for you from Lego Blocks!
We expect you will do your part to help out to. Like help with homework

(even if all you have to do is sit there and listen)
More snuggles and of course LOTS more LOVE!
Gus will even help keep you in check when the humans aren't around.

{Seriously---Gus never ceases to amaze us. The cat was like a Shepard with these chicks. Once Sally learned to hop out, Gus would stand guard and bop her on the head if she tried to get out. Gus never nipped at them. He did have a little fun every once in a while chasing the poor things under furniture if they got out of line. It was down right ridiculous!)
We will even take you for a piggy back ride, if you get tired from playing int he kitchen.
At one point, we wondered if these were exceptionally talented "trick chicks" they loved hopping back and forth between the boys.
All the lovin', exercise and good food leads to growing chicks. Before long,
they began to outgrow the pool and needed a residence with higher walls and eventually we "re-located" these darlings to the "Chick-Inn" in our good friend's barn!

We sure had fun with the chicks while they were here. Each of the kids took them to their class and the chicks even made an appearance at daycare. Such is the life of the glamorous Moorlag Chicks!

Chickas

For a stint in March we adopted 6 new family members. One Saturday morning we piled into the van and headed to the local Farm & Fleet. There, each child picked two chicks, giving each of the fluffy puff balls a name. Ella picked Brownie and Maisy. Carter so appropriately named his Fireball and Cookie Dough. And Christian transferred his love for Dr.Seuss books to his new friends Nick and Sally. The baby ducklings were hard to pass up! (nonetheless, we were focused on chicks!) We brought them home and made them a comfy space in the pool we've outgrown.
We held them,
and snuggled them,
and checked out every little bit of them from their bills to their wings, and their scrawny little feet.
We showered the chicks with lots of LOVE and affection.
We fed and watered them too!

Those cute little buggers nestled their way right into our hearts!

Ella's Spring Art and Music Show

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, the commitment that Caledonia Schools makes to the arts. Ella lives for her hour of art and hour of music each week. It is such an important part of her school week. She constantly amazes us with her creations. We had a wonderful evening checking out the children's artwork and then their performance. We were blown away by their performance as well!
Ella giving us a commentary of how she made a puppet from paper maiche.
Showing us the other pieces of art.
A Ladybug by Ella
Grandma and the boys enjoying a cookie!
Containment and performances are not this guys thing.
TROUBLE-Look at this little man "rule the school". He is hilarious, he insists on wearing a tie when he dresses up. What a handsome dude.
In the auditorium this was the sign the kids made. All the stage props were made by the students as well! WOW!
Ella impressed us by asking to "audition" for one of the speaking "flower parts". The performance had a combination of singing and speaking to tell the garden story. It was precious. The kids even made their headbands and chose their flower colors.
Sooooo cute!

What fun memories. Christian kept yelling to Ella (because I wuv her, mom). Next Christmas Carter will be in kindergarten and he and Ella will share the stage! I am looking forward to things to come! It will be here before I know it!
