Our family had fallen in love with the DolphinTale movie prior to coming to Florida, so we knew we couldn't miss the Marine center just down the road from our hotel. We spent the morning there before we headed for home. Gulf World was full of a variety of animals. We got what felt like a "front row" pass to all the exhibits. The lines weren't long at all and we were able to get SO close to everything. The kids loved the Sting Ray Petting area.

We saw sea lions, penguins, alligators, crocodiles......

and TWO dolphin shows. We stood in line to shake fins with the dolphins and it started to rain. The kids were so determined to shake their fins that they didn't mind the rain. Christian was a bit crabby at this point...I was thinking lack of sleep but come to find out, he had an ear infection. (Thanks be to after-hours ENTs and technology to get a Rx called in to a Walgreens in Alabama!) He was feeling better before we got to Nashville.) Anywho- the kids were OVER the MOON to shake fins with the dolphins. Of course, the camera battery died but we paid for the 5x7s of the shot. We happened to be the 2nd last family in line and they let us stay right by the tank and talk to the trainer. She was feeding the dolphins, dolphin "ice cream"= fish flavored ice cubes. The kids were able to ask questions and study the dolphins up SUPER close. The trainer even asked if the kids wanted to get the dolphins to sing??? Of course?!?! So she showed them how to make the hand signal for it and viola! The dolphin serenaded us! WOW! That wouldn't happen at Sea World. :) It was amazing.

The Sea Turtle was very interested in Ella and Carter. They followed each other back and forth. How cool?>?!

We saw some scary snakes, lizards, and creatures along with some pretty amazing tropical birds.

We LOVED Gulf World and would highly recommend it to other families. We hope to go back to visit another year!
